Business School versus On the Job Learning

By Aniela Szumilas on 22 January, 2010

Aniela Szumilas

Business school is a necessary institution and I have drawn on my knowledge and experiences from it in many situations, but its not everything. Organizational ways of working are also necessary, as policies and procedures enable the easier functioning of large size organizations. Having experienced the acheiver lifestyle of business school and the assimilator lifestyle of busines, Im trying to find my own place while learning about myself- and how management ACTUALLY works.

How to know if you are good at what you are doing?

By Lasse Kronback Arildslund on 18 November, 2009

Lasse Kronback Arildslund

It is not a very long time ago I finished university, and the ways of working on projects and assignments in such a forum still seems quite familiar. During my five years in university I felt that I continuously progressed, as I improved in the areas of group work and methodology. I got to know if my performance was good or bad because I knew on which basis I was evaluated. The working processes here in real life are very different, so how do I know if what I deliver is good or bad?

Gaining Perspective- One Day at a Time

By Aniela Szumilas on 2 November, 2009

Aniela Szumilas

The day has come where I no longer jump out of bed and run to work. Perhaps part of my altered energy is the fault of my initial big expectations meeting the reality of work…. but highs and lows included, this first month reminded me that I have to buckle up my seatbelt for the ride ahead!

By Lasse Kronback Arildslund on 21 October, 2009

One-and-a-half months in Oslo, and one month at djuice, Telenor. Everything is still quite new to me, but fortunately I’m starting to get a grip on things. However, there is much to learn, but I guess that’s why I’m here!

Sinking, Swimming or Spellcheck?

By Aniela Szumilas on 1 October, 2009

Aniela Szumilas

It might be premature to say that I’m getting the hang of things, but where in last weeks meetings I felt like a deer in headlights, this week I’m almost at a level where I can contribute. ALMOST :)

The journey has begun and three intense weeks has passed. During the following 18 months in the Global Trainee Programme I’m going to learn Telenor from the inside out, through different disciplines and in different countries. I’m looking forward to a lifetime experience, and from what I can tell so far, it is going to be great.
