It’s Harvest Time in Podgorica
By Aniela Szumilas on 26 August, 2010
As the summer draws to a close, i’m at ease in Montenegro. I’ve had a fair share of ups and downs over the time here; but just as harvest time does in nature, i’m gathering all of what i’ve gone through and bundling it into a big heap of positivity. I’ll definately draw on all of the lessons i’ve gathered here later; maybe even in another time of difficulty, but the really good news is that unlike in the harvest, my heaping of positivity doesn’t come just once a year.

Living and Learning
By Aniela Szumilas on 15 June, 2010
Coming to Promonte,(now rebranded to Telenor Montenegro) I was weary of taking on the role of project manager. Here was a monumentous task looming ahead of me which meant that I not only had to coordinate myself but I was also responsible for deliveries from a team. I don’t know that I would call myself ready at this half-way point either, but the good news is that I’m learning every day!

Its not just about the Job…
By Aniela Szumilas on 7 May, 2010
Works is a place where one ends up spending a fair share of time, so it’s important that you like what you do and that you enjoy the people that you work with. My mentor once told me to try and pick jobs where I could pick my boss. He says it’s better to have a great working relationship with your boss and colleagues as they are often more meaningful to job satisfaction than the actual work you do. I think there is a lot of truth to that.

Patience
By Aniela Szumilas on 5 May, 2010
The reflections keep coming, and as I’m settling nicely into my second module at Promonte, the time has come to officially wrap up my first module. The things I’ve learned go far beyond the subject area I’ve worked in, and its hitting home that the trainee programme does a lot more than just show you different departments, divisions and job roles.

Recharged and Ready to start!

One can hardly call seminar week vacation, but looking back on our latest seminar in Belgrade, I feel surprisingly refreshed and ready for the new challenges ahead.

Vacation- and Telenor comes with me!
By Aniela Szumilas on 4 March, 2010
Telenor is bigger than I realize when I work only at Fornebu. You never know where you’re going to find a little reminder that the work we do extends beyond the office and our colleauges. When it comes down to it though, I’m really proud to be a Telenor employee- and that goes with me on vacation too!

Business School versus On the Job Learning
By Aniela Szumilas on 22 January, 2010
Business school is a necessary institution and I have drawn on my knowledge and experiences from it in many situations, but its not everything. Organizational ways of working are also necessary, as policies and procedures enable the easier functioning of large size organizations. Having experienced the acheiver lifestyle of business school and the assimilator lifestyle of busines, Im trying to find my own place while learning about myself- and how management ACTUALLY works.

Don’t Blink!
By Aniela Szumilas on 26 November, 2009
The time has come for me to tackle my tasks here at work with deadlines fast approaching, and with that in mind I think it might be about time for me to explain to you what my work entails, how it has changed…. and why not to blink.

Gaining Perspective- One Day at a Time
By Aniela Szumilas on 2 November, 2009
The day has come where I no longer jump out of bed and run to work. Perhaps part of my altered energy is the fault of my initial big expectations meeting the reality of work…. but highs and lows included, this first month reminded me that I have to buckle up my seatbelt for the ride ahead!

Sinking, Swimming or Spellcheck?
By Aniela Szumilas on 1 October, 2009
It might be premature to say that I’m getting the hang of things, but where in last weeks meetings I felt like a deer in headlights, this week I’m almost at a level where I can contribute. ALMOST

My Charmed Life
By Aniela Szumilas on 24 September, 2009
The only thing better than learning I had been selected as part of the next Telenor Trainee intake in April of 2009, was actually having my first day at work.
