As the title suggets, I have just lived through my very first summer break. I had a lot of confusion on what exactly I would like to do and where I want to go for the summer. The list of the countries I would like to visit went on and on………….the list was longer than the $ I possessed. Much like the medieval royal proclaimmation notice.

Where to go?

I did make my choice, all thanks to the Travel Channel which at that time was featuring the loveliness of Florence. I was captivated by the beautiful sculptures and paintings by Michelangelo. But no,Florence was not my destination. My destination lies 230km from Florence in one of the several ancient cities that has stood the test of time and still be able to captivate visitors; the Eternal City of Rome. I booked my ticket, packed my bag and told myself “Here I come Rome!”:)

Eternal beauty……

Just like its namesake, it was truly an Eternal City. Looking at the ancient monuments; Pantheon, Colloseum, Roman Forums among others I couldn’t help feeling the time has moved forward at its usual relentless pace, but the city has somewhat has managed to retain and live in its past glory. Visiting these ancient sites I was trapped in time knowing that the grounds that I walked was once the very same path that welcomed Julius Caesar and other great heroes of the Roman Empire. I felt humbled being among these great artifacts which are more than just a mere building or monuments cause to me they also represent a piece of culture and heritage that should be protected, respected and preserved by everyone. I alse sensed a feeling of deja vu by just getting a glimpse of this precious monuments and getting the opportunity to visit these great sites. No modern architecture could measure up to these priceless monuments!

The Vatican City was nothing less then Rome! The smallest nation in the world has some of the world’s greatest paintings’ that would simply awe even a non art connoisseur like me:)

Italians………

Great people too, ever helpful! Delicious ice cream (Yummy), the best I had so far:) Beautiful fountains such as the Trevi, Barberini and many more (fountains can be found at all corners of Rome). However the most famous fountain in all of Italy is definitely the Trevi Fountain. I held on the tradition of tossing a coin in the fountain, in fact I did it more than once to increase the probability of having my wish fulfilled:) Great weather too, came back a couple of shade darker:)

Rome was not my only summer destination, but none of the other places could measure up to Rome. Maybe none will:)

Veni,Vidi, Vinci!

I hope you have enjoyed the recollection of my summer break and hopefully it’s not too boring. Enjoy the pictures!
Rome

It’s not over yet, please read on………

In my previous articles I had mentioned that this site should be of two way communication instead of one so I would like to invite our readers to consider sharing your thoughts on:

  • Efforts on a greener world (this could be your view on efforts that you or anyone you know of has taken, anything you would like to express on this topic)
  • Your most memorable holiday
  • What breakthrough you would like to see in the telecommunication product (anything your creative mind could conjure)

Dear readers, your experiences are going to be my inspiration for my next writing, so please express your views!

Best Regards,

Mala
