“Malaysia, the heart of Asia”

Malaysia is truly in the heart of Asia. I love traveling, so in my spare time I have had the chance to explore a bit around the region. Kuala Lumpur is a great hub for seeing South East Asia and I have spent many weekends experiencing this part of the world. Actually, this is really the first time I have been able to go all these exiting places. These are some of the places that I have seen so far:
Melaka: A nice small town on the west coast of Malaysia with rich historical background which enabled it to be honored as a World Heritage Site in July 2008.
Langkawi: Island in the north-west of Malaysia with beautiful beaches and refreshing nature-based activities.
Tioman: Beautiful island on the east coast of Malaysia. The densely forested island is still sparsely inhabited, but is surrounded by numerous white coral reefs, making it a great place for snorkeling and diving.
Pangkor: Another island on the west coast, not too far from KL. This is where we had the teambuilding a while ago.
Jakarta: Capitol of Indonesia, huge busy city.
Bali: “Island of the gods” is one of the Indonesian islands and a great place to relax and try out the surf.
Singapore: Singapore is a small country on a small island, but with over four million people it’s a fairly crowded city. With tasty food, good shopping and a vibrant nightlife scene it is a great place to visit.
Bangkok: I had to visit my fellow trainee, Eivind, in Bangkok to see how he was doing. A fun city with loads of nightlife.
Hanoi: The capitol of Vietnam is a fascinating combination of East and West, with Chinese influence from centuries of dominance, and French design from its colonial past. I also travelled a bit around the area, including Ha Long Bay which is also on the World Heritage list.
Australia: During my studies, I had one year abroad in Sydney. Australia is still quite far from Malaysia, but very much closer than from Norway, so it was great to come back.
As you can see, I have been quite busy seeing and experiencing as much as possible while I stay here. And so far I must say that I have enjoyed every destination very much. Still there is much more I would like to see, but time is running out for my stay here now. So much to see, and so little time. Maybe I’ll have to come back sometime and see the rest
