This is my hometown

Last week when I left the 12 degrees and rain in Oslo for 30 degrees and sun in Belgrade I thought “Hey, living in Belgrade is pretty good”. It is, and not only because of the weather (which I might change my mind about as the thermometer hits 40 degrees in July..). People are friendly and easy to get to know, there’s always something happening, and, most evident, there is a tangible buzz around.
A melting pot
The city is a melting pot. Everywhere there’s a mixture of old and new; a few Trabant-cars and then a brand new Mercedes, a new house next to a building just about to be demolished; a Swarowsky boutique beside the local butcher. Or like a friend put it: “Belgrade can be like a concrete building housing a five star restaurant. A bit grey on the outside; colourful, entertaining and flavoursome on the inside”.
