Jungle Boogie

Hello again! I hope you have had a wonderful week. The sun is shining bright in Oslo and it almost feels like Spring already!

When the fun begins…
This week has been a busy week. I am getting excited working on the business case. Soon, once we get the final piece of data needed we can start analysing it. By looking at the numbers and figures I have also learnt a lot about the technical side of building out a network. I hope I can manage to finish the analysis before I move to my second outplacement.

I am also looking at users’ internet usage patterns in mobile broadband.  We are now trying to analyse how much and why user’s behaviour patterns are such, and in the end we came to some interesting findings. I am looking forward to my next meetings related to this! I am not an expert yet, but I hope to be able to talk about mobile broadband at my fingertips one day :) And that’s when the fun begins.

Jungle Boogie!
As promised to Atip and Yuin, here are some more photos of my weekend getaway in Malaysia with Istvan and Ole Johan.

cooking

We stopped along the highway for some ‘lemang’. This is glutinous rice cooked with coconut milk inside the bamboo, and ‘barbequed’ over fire made with coconut husks. It takes a lot of effort and patience to make this Malay traditional rice cake. The bamboos are piping hot but the man manages to hold them with his bare hands!

food

And this is how it looks like. The ‘lemang’ (left) is usually eaten with chicken curry (right). Slurp!!

Istvan
Look! DiGi’s wide coverage even has network coverage at this remote ‘lemang’ stall :D And this isn’t the only sign of DiGi at this stall, if you look closely at the other photos you will find another one too ;)

Durian Durian 2

We made one more stop along the highway to sample Malaysia’s King of Fruits - the durian. The word ‘duri’ in Malay means thorns, and it is obvious where the fruit earned its name from :) The fruit inside is yellow and milky, and each piece has a seed. Be warned though, the fruit has a pungent smell. My fellow jungle mates thought that the fruit smelled and tasted like onions with vanilla and sugar, but I absolutely loved it! Some say only those with an acquired taste will like it, and therefore the durian is certainly not for the faint-hearted ;)

So to my dear readers who are planning to visit Malaysia, make sure you give the durian a try and let me know what you think ;) Until my next post, have a nice weekend!
