Reorganization, Christmas and Project closing

December is definitively a busy month in Telenor. The last couple of weeks we completed tasks and closed projects before Christmas holiday. In addition, due to reorganization in Nordic there has been an intense period for many people in Telenor.
Masquerade party at Fornebu
What makes December even busier is the tradition of Christmas dinners. I do not know much about Christmas traditions in other countries which Telenor operates, but in Norway it is very common to have Christmas dinners with colleagues before the holiday kicks off. During last week we had two arrangements where the trainees were invited. Together with Telenor ASA we had a stunning masquerade party at Fornebu last Friday. There was entertainment and dinner followed by live music and dancing.
Dinner with the trainees and project closing
In addition to the masquerade party at Fornebu, we have had an arrangement with the 8 trainees in Oslo. Just to inform you, 8 of the 12 trainees have their first outplacement at Fornebu; we are 6 trainees in Nordic, 1 in Broadcast and 1 in Telenor ASA. The remaining four are in Malaysia, Hungary and Sweden. Anyway, the eight of us went out for a dinner. Some of the other trainees went curling first but as my team had to close a project I could unfortunately not join in. However, closing a project is surely a good feeling
New project starting up
Accomplishing one case, there is of course a new one starting up. The new case we are working on is a huge customer of Telenor and I am really looking forward to learn more about the company. I am also quite curious on what the next year will bring: I am exited to get new tasks in my current position; also, I am VERY curious in which country I should be in my second outplacement (from April 1.) and in what division. I wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

What is a “masquerade party”? Sounds interesting

Hi Andrew!
A Masquerade ball is a party where the participants attend wearing masks. As far as I know it is a tradition from medieval time and was particularly popular in Venice. In Telenor “masquerade party” was the theme for the yearly Christmas dinner. We could choose between making/painting our own mask where Telenor provided us with materials, or we could get one when arriving. In the very beginning everyone had the mask on and it was very cool, as you couldn’t identify the persons you saw or talked too. As it was a bit challenging (and weird) to dine with the masks, most people took them off while eating…However it was a funny informal start of the evening!
Happy New Year!
Best wishes,
Anna DH
