Each day tend to be quite different

Before I started working, I was very curious about what a typical day at work would be like. Working in Telenor for two months, I have experienced that each day tend to be quite different from each other.

In my current outplacement I have the position as an analyst in the division working towards the Norwegian Business market. Together with my team I work with value proposition to some of Telenor’s largest and most prioritized costumers. As a trainee I get the opportunity to join a wide spectre of meetings. This week I have not been at the office at Fornebu at all due to meetings. F.ex on Wednesday I joined a seminar in Trondheim, where I got to learned more about Telenor operations in the region.

Frequent use of abbreviations has been challenging
One thing that never stops surprising though, are the frequent use of abbreviations in Telenor. Telenor literally has its own language when it comes to product names, solutions and projects etc. For a “beginner” like me this has sometimes (or actually quite often particularly in the beginning) been challenging when it comes to fully comprehend and follow the discussions. However, after memorizing and understanding more about the content in different abbreviations, this is getting better :)

Seminar and Christmas dinner with my colleagues
This week I also joined a two- day’s seminar with the division I currently work in. The agenda was to discuss strategic issues related to “what Telenor shall be to the segment “Large Enterprises” in 2010”. The seminar also included a traditional Norwegian Christmas dinner. It was very nice to get to know my colleagues in a more social setting :)

    HI Anna
iam working in telenor Pakistan (S&D) and i appriciate the effort, it describes such things which are happening with every one in day to day activities but no one notice it. i like your comments of (Telenor literally has its own language when it comes to product names, solutions and projects etc.) i will suggest if Possible that so many Terms and abrivations we use in routine, i belive we are not sharing these terms with our business Partners and their Staff except few. this is just because the training standards that telenor is offeringto its direct employees and Franchise staff in Pakistan are different, The more i will explain that the Trainings that TP is offering to its Direct Employees are of a very high Standard some where in 3 or 4 Stars Hotel, Employees use to Stay in Lexurious Hotels and Attend the Training in a way for which the Franchisees Staff only Can Dream. we normally here at our Region, conducting franchise staff trainings either in Local offices or some where in a Low Standard Public Halls. What if Telenor Pakistan Plan to conduct Joint Trainings for Its Employees and Franchise Staff which dafinetly will improve their Working Skills and will bring a Mega change in their attitudes. other wise the franchise staff will remain the same Low Profile working Standards which can cause for Company’s Bad Word of Mouth in a Long Term. ( This is My Openion i am not targeting any one or procedure).

    HI Anna

i work in grameenphone (ICMC,Customer Service;Bangladesh) and i appriciate the effort you made .Your observation was striking like -Telenor has its own short language for certain activities, products and campaigns. i think we can use this blog platform for sharing these terms with our business associates .

Moreover, i beleive you can try/ or choose( if possible) to work on frenchaise operations for more understanding of the fact that, how elements of Business are interrelated and hoe dynamic the market variables are in the asian community.

Wish you goodluck in the training program.

    Anwar

I did not catch all of what you described about the training programs in Pakistan; However, I would like to learn more about it.

    Best wishes from Anna DH
