Crash introduction and lesson learned

Looking back at the first two months of the trainee-program, the kick-off October 1, seems like ages ago.

After a hectic introduction week, incl. several interesting lectures, sessions with the top-level management and a couple of days working with our personal development, we were placed in our respective departments on Monday the week after. For me, that was (and still is) the department of Strategy & Business Improvement (SBI) in Operations, Telenor Nordic in Norway. At the moment I am working with a project aiming to change the way of working in order production. The methodology being used, LEAN, is all about making the work easier and more efficient, while at the same time increasing both the quality and customer satisfaction. My role in the project team is quite wide, but up until now I have had main focus on the KPIs (Key Performance Indexes) as well as leading the customer satisfaction analysis.

Tough start
The first couple of weeks in SBI did not live up to my expectations. I felt very left alone with a project not really knowing were to go, or who to turn to. At a moment I actually wondered if this was right for me. As the weeks have gone, I am now more sure than ever that I did the right choice after all. Looking back at it I also see a lesson well learned; if you are not able to communicate what you feel and were you want to go, there will often neither be anyone there able to help.

Test-pilot with positive results
One of the greatest things about my current project is following up one of the test-teams in a pilot we are running until mid December. It has been great fun seeing how the team-members motivation have risen when giving them an end-to-end perspective, and the chance to change their way of working when they find new and better ways of doing things.

    Hi all three of you,

Thanks for your comments. I am very happy to hear that you are interested in my project. At the current moment of time I am afraid I can not go into details about what we are doing. However, I will come back to you regarding LEAN-principles and how, in my experience, it can be usefully implemented in the telecom sector.

    Best Regards,
    Marius
